Kylian Mbappe strikes late as Real Madrid pull clear at Valencia

Kylian Mbappe struck late to put Real Madrid in control at Mestalla, easing them towards another La Liga win over Valencia.

As reported by Football Espana, it had been a poor showing from Alvaro Arbeloa’s side, who offered little to worry the hosts. Earlier, Alvaro Carreras broke the deadlock, skipping clear of challenges before finishing at the near post, having also scored in the reverse fixture at the Bernabeu.

Valencia almost levelled straight away, Lucas Beltran clipping the outside of the post with a low effort.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Brahim Diaz squared for Mbappe to tap in, doubling the lead.

Mbappe had endured a frustrating night, his late goal bringing relief. Real Madrid are heading back to within one point of Barcelona in the La Liga title race.
