Villarreal have begun laying a new pitch at Estadio de la Cerámica as LaLiga’s return nears, with wider summer works ongoing, according to El Periódico Mediterráneo.
The surface will be ready for their 2026/27 home bow in matchday four, against Deportivo de A Coruña on Saturday 5 September at 21.00, after starting the campaign away from Vila-real.
There are a little over two weeks to finish installation and testing so the turf is in top condition for that game.
Works also target access, internal circulation and supporter safety, with new vomitories and distribution corridors to ease movement and improve services.
A new annex between Fondo Norte and Tribuna will add sport-use spaces, parking and other facilities for matchdays and other events.
Interior areas are being renewed and reorganised to keep La Cerámica modern and aligned with current demands.
At Miralcamp, the José Manuel Llaneza complex is expanding. Villarreal have acquired 10,000 square metres, taking it to 130,000 m², and are building an 11-a-side pitch divisible into two eight-a-side fields.
The project includes three five-a-side pitches for three to five-year-olds in the club’s Psychomotricity Course, plus a double stand serving the new field and existing pitch five.
Both sites remain active as early September approaches, with La Cerámica preparing its new turf to welcome Deportivo.
