MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with LA Galaxy hosting Sporting San Miguelito in the second leg of their Round One series on Wednesday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, USA. 

The first encounter delivered a 1-1 draw in Panama, leaving everything to play for in the second leg. San Miguelito captain Rodrigo Tello struck in the 37’, before Joseph Paintsil placed the match on level terms in the 68’.

Jakob Glesnes was the Superior Player of the Match in the first leg. He delivered three tackles and won three duels to help his side take a valuable away goal. 

The winner on aggregate will advance to the Round of 16. Away goals serve as the first tiebreaker, with extra time and a penalty shootout to be played, if necessary.

Rodrigo Tello’s goal for San Miguelito, which opened the scoring against LA Galaxy, was the 186th scored by a Panamanian player in Concacaf Champions Cup history, since Luis Ernesto “Cascarita” Tapia of Alianza FC (SLV) did so against Flor de Caña FC (NCA) on Aug-6-1967 (first leg, Central America First Round).

José Calderón of San Miguelito, at 40 years, 6 months, and 25 days old, became the oldest Panamanian goalkeeper in the history of the Concacaf Champions Cup since the 2008-09 edition, and the eighth oldest goalkeeper overall globally in the competition, also since that same season.
