Javier Tebas has condemned the way Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Ibrahima Konaté handled a pre-match T-shirt tribute to Ceuta residents before Real Madrid’s 3-2 win at Elche. According to L'Équipe, the La Liga president said the trio’s behaviour fell well short of expectations.

Before Tuesday night’s game at the Manuel Martinez Valero, the three players emerged with the shirts folded, then removed them almost immediately ahead of the handshakes.

Speaking during a visit to Huesca, Tebas said he thought it was very bad and argued such gestures are institutional acts of the club, not occasions for personal expression.

The T-shirt carried the slogan “Nous sommes tous des Caballas”, using the nickname for residents of Ceuta.

The initiative was launched to support the enclave after the entry of 72,000 migrants on 30 and 31 July, a Spanish government figure, mostly Moroccan.
