Alejandro Garnacho’s difficult start to life at Aston Villa has attracted attention from clubs in La Liga, with the Argentina international yet to establish himself under Unai Emery.

Garnacho joined Villa from Chelsea on a season-long loan during the summer, with the agreement containing a conditional obligation to buy. However, the 22-year-old has played only 31 minutes across three substitute appearances and is yet to start a competitive match for Emery’s side.

According to the Daily Mail, clubs in Spain’s top flight are monitoring Garnacho’s situation. The interest comes against the backdrop of his limited involvement at Villa, where he has been an unused substitute in recent matches, including Saturday’s 3-2 Premier League victory at Tottenham.

Garnacho’s lack of minutes is not currently being linked to any attempt to alter the terms of his loan. Villa remain committed to giving him an opportunity to establish himself, while Emery has repeatedly stressed the need for patience.

The manager was particularly clear about Garnacho’s current position after Villa’s 3-1 Carabao Cup win at Coventry.

“Continue working. Work, work, train, work. When he can have minutes to play, try to play well.”

Emery added that Garnacho was progressing but had players ahead of him, highlighting the form of George Hemmings, Alysson and Ibrahim Mbaye.

Garnacho’s disrupted pre-season has also contributed to his slow integration. Emery said the winger was “a little bit behind” because of circumstances during the build-up to the campaign and called for patience.

The situation could still change quickly. Villa have a demanding schedule across the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups, giving Garnacho opportunities to force his way into Emery’s plans.

The forward also has a personal connection to Spain. Born in Madrid, Garnacho spent time in Atletico Madrid’s academy before joining Manchester United as a teenager. He later moved to Chelsea before his loan switch to Villa this summer.

For now, Emery’s message remains straightforward: Garnacho must use his time in training to close the gap on the attacking players currently ahead of him.
