Florention Perez’s recent comments at the club’s General Assembly on Sunday has taken everyone by storm and has particularly antagonised La Liga president Javier Tebas.
Tebas had already hit back at Perez’s statements with a generic retort. But the La Liga president has now gone a step further and has levelled a serious allegation against Real Madrid.
Tebas has accused Real Madrid of making private arrangements regarding the distribution of lucrative Super Cup revenues.
Tebas’s accusation comes after Perez criticized the La Liga president for issues including the failed Miami match and the CVC agreement.
The core of the allegation centers on Real Madrid’s economic agreements with the RFEF during the tenure of former President Luis Rubiales. The arrangements govern the massive revenue generated by moving the Super Cup competition to Saudi Arabia.
“Real Madrid has secretly agreed with Rubiales – the former president of the Spanish Football Federation – on the distribution of the massive revenues that the Federation will receive from the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
“I confirm to you that the rest of the clubs have not agreed to that distribution,” he wrote on his X account.
Tebas suggested that the exclusive agreement allows Real Madrid to receive a disproportionately larger share of the guaranteed fee than other competing clubs, leading to an unfair system that lacks transparency.
As mentioned earlier, Tebas also used his response to launch a separate character attack on Perez after the Real Madrid President called for the formal recognition of Tebas as ‘persona non grata’ at the Assembly.
Tebas posted a full statement on his X account, describing Pérez as “messianic, sectarian, supremacist, authentic and sole possessor of the truth.”
