La Liga president sends message to Premier League over Man City: ‘An example’ | OneFootball

La Liga president Javier Tebas has on Tuesday weighed in on the controversial situation of Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.

Man City have of course taken their place front and centre in the media headlines across world football once more over the course of the day to date.

This comes after the Premier League confirmed reports from recent days, that the Sky Blues have been found guilty of ‘all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period, and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the League’s investigation’.

Those in a position of power at The Etihad, as a result, look set for an unprecedented punishment, ranging from massive fines to points deductions and potentially even the stripping of Premier League titles.

Speaking during his own appearance in front of the media on Tuesday, the subject of the Man City case was in turn put to La Liga’s head figure, Javier Tebas.

Asked for his take on the latest developments in English football by FIFPRO (as cited by Fabrizio Romano), Tebas explained:

”I believe it should be the strictest punishment in the Premier League regulations. It must serve as an example. Violating the rules for over 10 years is a very serious thing.”
