Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has on Tuesday responded to recent criticism on the part of Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal.
This comes after the latter made clear his feelings regarding the upcoming fixture between Barcelona and Villarreal being played in the USA.
During an appearance in front of the media on Monday, Carvajal explained to Teledeporte (as cited by Diario AS):
“I think this is a blatant distortion of the competition, which doesn’t allow all La Liga teams to compete on an equal footing. I think it’s essential that we, the players, the clubs, and the league, are fair. We have to defend fairness, and I don’t think that’s the case here.”
Stopped by the Spanish press during his own appearance in public 24 hours on, the subject of Carvajal’s comments was therefore put to the aforementioned Javier Tebas.
And La Liga’s president was in no mood to bite his tongue, hitting back with a dig regarding Real Madrid’s in-house media channel, RMTV:
“Carvajal saying the match in Miami adulterates La Liga? To me, what adulterates the competition more is the videos Real Madrid TV published last season about the referees.”
