La Liga has launched a scheme paying members of the public €50 for anonymous tip-offs about venues illegally showing matches, supported by a dedicated complaint line.

Marca states that the hotline lets people report bars, hotels or cafes, and that verified tip-offs will be rewarded with €50 transferred to the informant’s account. La Liga matches are free-to-air in China, the report noted.

The league has long pursued piracy cases. President Javier Tebas says he devotes 60% of his time to the fight and has compared illegal streaming to drug crime and child exploitation.

Pirate streaming is rising fast. A report earlier this year said activity nearly tripled in Spain during the first six months of 2025 compared with 2024.

High TV costs are often cited as a factor, with watching every match of a Champions League team on television in Spain costing well in excess of €1,000. Tebas has argued that if users bought packages, prices would come down.
