After the Champions League exit against Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern are conducting internal analyses, which are said to have revealed one problem in particular: the squad lacks top international quality across the board
Following the semi-final exit in the Champions League, FC Bayern is apparently drawing clear conclusions for its squad planning in the summer
As reported by Sport BILD, those responsible have come to the conclusion in their internal analysis over the past few days that the current Bayern squad is not sufficiently broad-based for the very highest international level
Particularly in comparison to the treble-winning team of 2020, clear differences had become apparent. According to the report, the team that won the Champions League under Hansi Flick in 2020 was referred to internally on several occasions
FC Bayern apparently had significantly more quality on the bench back then, especially in attack. In the final against Paris Saint-Germain (1:0), the Munich team was able to bring in Ivan Perisic for Kingsley Coman, Philippe Coutinho for Serge Gnabry and Corentin Tolisso for Thiago, among others
According to the analysis, it was precisely this squad depth that Vincent Kompany did not have at his disposal this season, and it was particularly clear in the decisive Champions League matches against PSG that Bayern lacked high-quality alternatives in certain phases of the game
According to Sport BILD, Bayern are keen to sign a real reinforcement for the attack in the summer. This should not just be a supplementary player, but a professional who can immediately raise the level of the first team
In addition, Munich are apparently still looking for another squad player to improve the overall width of the team. Internally, they seem to be convinced that Vincent Kompany could have a better chance of achieving major international success with more quality across the board

Although Bayern were spectacular offensively for long stretches of the season, the strain on the regular players increased, especially in the decisive knockout matches
Especially in comparison to Europe’s absolute top teams such as PSG or Manchester City, Munich therefore want to make targeted upgrades in the summer.
