Following their wins against Elche, Athletic Club, and Rayo Vallecano, FC Barcelona are now set to play their next La Liga game on Sunday, when they will face Valencia at Mestalla. The Catalans will be particularly keen to win this game as this will allow them to get a three-point cushion over their strongest rivals for the league title this season, Real Madrid, as the Merengues lost their match to Real Betis last night.
However, a visit to the Mestalla is also not going to be easy for the Blaugranes. Their difficulties in this game can be further compounded as Hansi Flick might not be able to count on one of his key players for this game.
This key player is none other than the winger Lamine Yamal, as Mundo Deportivo reports that the Spaniard was not training with the rest of his teammates on Saturday as Barcelona undertook their last group training session to prepare for the match against Valencia. He remained and worked in the gym, while Flick worked with the rest of his teammates.
It remains to be seen what the reason was for Yamal’s absence from group training, and some indication about this can be obtained when Flick addresses his press conference today.
If there is something serious, and Yamal is unable to participate in the game against Valencia, this would be a particularly bad time for him to miss a game. He was in his best form in the last game against Rayo Vallecano, and opened his goalscoring account for this season as he scored a brace in that match.
Hopefully, there is nothing serious, and Lamine Yamal will be able to travel with his team to Valencia and play in the game tomorrow, especially as Barcelona will be looking to get the full three points from a difficult game away from home.
