At the age of just 18, Lamine Yamal has become one of football’s prized assets and is currently the most valued player in the world.

This is thanks to a brilliant start to his professional career, which started at age 15. The forward has since racked up 109 competitive appearances for Barça, in which he has scored 27 goals while providing 37 assists.

Most of those goal involvements have come last season, where Yamal emerged as one of the most consistent players, especially in the second half of the campaign.

Yamal’s contributions helped Barcelona secure the domestic treble, and the youngster is now in contention to win the Ballon d’Or heading into the Sept 22 gala.

Yamal on winning the Ballon d’Or

As the focus shifts to the gala in Paris, Lamine Yamal has recently talked about his ambitions of winning the Ballon d’Or.

The Barcelona superstar once again showcased his winning mentality by admitting that he won’t be content with winning just one Ballon d’Or title.

“I don’t dream of winning one Ballon d’Or, but I dream of winning many of them,” Yamal said in Jose Ramon de la Morena‘s podcast Resonancia de Corazon.

Yamal believes he is more than capable of winning multiple Ballon d’Ors, just like the Barcelona greats before him, including Lionel Messi.

“I believe I am a player capable of achieving that, and if I don’t achieve it, it will be because I didn’t do things the right way, not because I didn’t want to,” he said.

“So, I dream of having many of them, and when the day comes that I get there, I will be very happy, but I will keep winning more and winning with my team and everything,” he added.

However, it must be noted that Yamal will face stiff competition from Ousmane Dembele as he looks to win his first Ballon d’Or title this month.

The former Barcelona attacker, after all, is coming on the back of a stellar 2024/25 campaign that saw PSG secure their maiden Champions League trophy as well as securing the treble.
