According to Superdeporte, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has signalled his patience is wearing thin over Julián Álvarez, stressing the club's offer to Atlético de Madrid is not open-ended.
The Argentina striker has said a transfer would be best for everyone and that he wants to fulfil his dream, though he did not name Barcelona explicitly. The clubs have already exchanged barbs, with Atlético insisting they do not need to sell, while the player's stance complicates his place under Diego Simeone.
Laporta said Barcelona have made a proposal to Atlético, have spoken with them and that they know the terms. He maintained the player wants to join and noted the forward had been on Barcelona's radar even before his move to City.
The president added that the bid will stand only for as long as Barcelona decide, saying the club will not wait on Atlético's position. If the operation suits them, Barcelona would be happy to proceed, but the offer will not remain indefinitely.
Laporta argued Atlético are closing ranks and urged them to reconsider and accept. If not, he said, they should make that clear and Barcelona will see what follows. He questioned talk of taking the issue to UEFA or FIFA, saying it makes no sense.
