Palmeiras open their Libertadores campaign away to Junior Barranquilla in Colombia tonight. According to Globo.com, 20-year-old midfielder Larson has been named in the squad and could make his competition debut. Kick-off is at 21:30 in Colombia.

Palmeiras are in no hurry with him, viewing him as a prospect who could make a difference in 2026. His name was inspired by the Swedish forward who played for Barcelona alongside Ronaldinho, although he operates in midfield.

He was registered for the 2025 edition but did not make the bench. Having featured in the under-20 tournament, he has spoken of the Libertadores feeling different even at youth level and of preparing every day to be ready if the opportunity comes.

He also underlined that there are no easy games, described Junior as a strong opponent used to the competition, and said Palmeiras are ready and want to start with a win.

Larson joined Palmeiras last year on loan after an impressive under-20 spell at Goiás. He previously spent time with Flamengo and Internacional, and has settled in the green shirt. Abel Ferreira considers him a viable option despite heavy competition in his role.

Marlon Freitas, Andreas Pereira and Maurício are established starters, with Lucas Evangelista and Emiliano Martínez next in line. Larson has made seven appearances this season across the Paulistão and Campeonato Brasileiro.
