Late goal sees Under-20s draw with Cruzeiro in the Brasileirão

On the afternoon of Wednesday (13), São Paulo’s U-20 team drew 2-2 with Cruzeiro at CFA Laudo Natel, in Cotia (SP), in the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship for the age group. The team’s goals were scored by Tetê and Léo.

The match started at a lively pace, with São Paulo enjoying more possession. In the 12th minute, Davi Pena played the ball to Tetê on the left side of the field, and the forward cut inside, got past three defenders, and struck a beautiful cross-shot to open the scoring. In the 30th minute, after a free-kick, the visitors equalized. Near the end of the first half, in the 43rd minute, Ryan tried a powerful shot from the edge of the box and hit the crossbar.

In the second half, the game remained balanced, but in the 28th minute, the visitors turned the score around. In the 41st minute, Léo passed to Guilherme Reis, and the full-back got his shot away, but the opposing goalkeeper saved it with his feet. In the final minutes, Lucyan shot, the defense cleared it, but the ball fell to Léo, who fired it into the top corner to level the score.

With the result, Tricolor moved to 11 points and remains in the fight to qualify for the next stage. The team coached by Júlio Baptista returns to the field next Sunday (17) to face América-MG away in Belo Horizonte.
