Having retired from professional football after the termination of his Bordeaux contract midway through last season, former France defender Laurent Koscielny is set for a return to football.
According to Ouest-France, the ex-Arsenal man is expected to go back to Lorient – the team where he spent the 2009/10 season, before moving to the Premier League – where he will join the youth academy set-up as a coach. Specifically, he could form part of the U17 team staff.
Koscielny had been linked with a move back to Brittany last year – this time, to join the first-team playing squad for one last campaign – but instead decided to remain linked to Bordeaux as a club ambassador, as part of a clause in his contract, and hung up his boots. While back at Lorient, he will also begin studying for his coaching diplomas.
The former French international made 40 appearances in all competitions in his sole season with Les Merlus‘ playing squad, helping them to a 7th-place finish in Ligue 1.
