Lautaro Díaz has been unveiled by Racing after ending his spell at Santos. The Argentine striker had been at Santos since September, on loan from Cruzeiro.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Cruzeiro accepted Racing's approach and agreed a loan with a buy option set at three million dollars.

Santos are not expected to receive a fee unless the option is taken up, with a possible shop-window payment if he is bought outright.

Díaz had fallen out of favour before the calendar break. This year he registered one goal in 19 games, seven in the Paulistão, eight in the Brasileiro where he struck against Flamengo, and four in the Sudamericana.

Signed last year, he produced three goals and two assists in 15 Brasileirão matches. He leaves Santos with four goals and two assists from 34 appearances.

The 28-year-old from Buenos Aires played for Estudiantes de Caseros and Villa Dálmine before joining Independiente del Valle in Ecuador. There he won the Copa Sudamericana in 2022, the Recopa Sudamericana and Supercopa Ecuador in 2023, then moved to Brazil with Cruzeiro.
