Manchester United Women have undergone numerous changes this pre-season.

Eva Olid has been named the new manager of the club after Marc Skinner left in August.

The Spanish coach has built up a reputation for giving younger players a chance, and United will be hoping she does that this season.

With numerous senior players departing, United have brought in young players such as Andrea Medina and Monica Jusu Bah.

There are also several youngsters at the club who have come through the academy, such as Mared Griffiths, Jessica Anderson, Emma Watson, Lucy Newell and Layla Drury, who will all be champing at the bit to get first-team minutes this season.

The club’s official site states that, Drury “became United Women’s youngest-ever player and goalscorer last season in our FA Cup tie at Burnley, and has continued to be around the first-team squad, including joining Eva Olid’s side on our recent pre-season trip to La Manga.”

The 17-year-old signed a professional deal over the summer and will be hoping to make a big impact this season in red.

It is an even more exciting summer for the forward, as the club has announced that, “Manchester United Women striker Layla Drury has been added to England’s FIFA U20 World Cup squad with the competition’s start just a few days away.”

The tournament will take place in Poland between the 5th and 27th of September.

Fellow teammate and academy product Lucy Newell will join her in the squad.

She will come up against Canada, Brazil and Tanzania in the group stage.

Should England win the tournament, Drury could miss at least five matches of the season for the Red Devils, including ties against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Drury represented Wales at youth level but has made the decision to play for the Lionesses.
