Lazio are still hoping to cash in on Matteo Cancellieri this summer, and they’re reportedly eyeing a move for Isak Bjerkebo.

Matteo Cancellieri Tipped to Leave Lazio

Cancellieri joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2022, spent two of the last four seasons on loan at Empoli and Parma. Last season, the 24-year-old started the first two matches of the season against Mantova in the Coppa Italia and Bologna in Serie A, but he’s expected to relinquish his starting berth once Gustav Isaksen regains his best physical condition.

The Genoa Option

Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani are also keen to offload the Roman player this summer, even if for a modest transfer fee, instead of losing him for free when his contract expires in June. Lazio were hoping to send the player to Genoa, but he has been resisting this particular destination, perhaps holding out for a more appealing suitor.

Lazio Could Turn to Isak Bjerkebo if Cancellieri Leaves

According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Cancellieri’s departure could make way for a new arrival. But while recent rumours have linked Lazio with Juventus benchwarmer Edon Zhegrova, the Roman newspaper mentions a less renowned profile in the shape of Bjerkebo.

Bjerkebo Career Path, Stats & Value

The 23-year-old is a native of Stoby who developped through the ranks of Malmo and then embarked on other experiences in Sweden before joining Sirius in March 2025. This season, he has thus far made 18 appearances, scoring 13 goals and delivering five assists. The Swede is tied to his current employers with a contract valid until December 2029. Transfermarkt estimates his value at €3.5 million.

What Would Be Bjerkebo’s Role at Lazio?

It should be noted that Bjerkebo is a right-footed player who mostly plays as an inverted left winger. Therefore, he wouldn’t be a direct replacement for the left-footed Cancellieri, but perhaps an understudy for Mattia Zaccagni. In this case, the versatile Tijjani Noslin could provide depth on the right flank beyond Isaksen.
