Lazio end Polymarket shirt sponsorship after Italian legal setback | OneFootball

Lazio have ended their main shirt sponsorship with Polymarket after the company’s legal troubles in Italy. The club said in a statement that the partnership had been terminated by mutual agreement.

The Serie A side had gone almost three years without a primary shirt sponsor before striking a €22 million deal with the New York-based firm. The contract was due to run until June 2028 with an option for a further year.

Last month Italian authorities blacklisted Polymarket for allegedly offering unauthorised betting services. The company appealed to the administrative court, TAR, arguing its prediction market differs from traditional betting.

The urgent appeal was rejected, with the court calling for a full assessment, so a final ruling is not expected soon. During this period Lazio were barred from displaying the sponsor’s name and logo on official kits.

The termination was made public on Tuesday. As part of the settlement, Polymarket will pay the full amount due for the 2026/27 season, roughly €9.5 million. Both parties left open the possibility of working together again if the regulatory framework changes.
