Organised Lazio fan groups turned on the club hierarchy after a humiliating Coppa Italia exit, Gennaro Gattuso’s first game ending in a 0-2 defeat to Mantova at a near-empty Stadio Olimpico. The boycott of president Claudio Lotito left just 5,528 inside, including more than 2,000 travelling supporters.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the groups issued a new statement condemning the board’s failures and scoffing at the media frenzy around Davide Frattesi’s arrival from Inter Milan. They said welcoming the player must not distract from their objective, which is to oppose what they call a dictatorship after such a chastening loss.
They repeated their opposition to the Stadio Flaminio design that would split the Curva Nord into two tiers, insisting they will fight to change it. The groups added that buyers, not signings, are their priority, and that freedom remains their driving demand.
They again demanded the removal of Emanuele Floridi, the club’s Head of Strategy and Communications, citing his allegiance to AS Roma. They complained of no sign of change or openness from the hierarchy.
A message to Gattuso and the squad promised backing but warned there would be no respite. Players who do not honour the shirt should give everything or leave, they said, adding that the Mantova defeat has exhausted all excuses.
They also cautioned against any attempt to restrict away travel, vowing to follow Lazio across Italy regardless. If trips are closed, they said they will organise alternative visits and keep their presence felt.
