Lazio could reportedly try to prise Nicolo Fagioli away from Fiorentina, as he continues to struggle for playing time.
The Biancocelesti are plotting a busy January transfer session that should see them recruit at least three new players, of course, if they manage to lift the transfer ban that prevented them from making any summer signings.
While Angelo Fabiani and Co. should address various departments, the main priority could be bringing in a new box-to-box midfielder capable of making goal contributions. In this regard, Torino’s Ivan Ilic could be the favorite for the role, while other sources have identified Kilmarnock teenager David Watson as an alternative option.
But according to Radio Laziale (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Fagioli has been proposed to the Aquile. Maurizio Sarri should be familiar with the 24-year-old, who was once one of the most promising talents at Juventus during the manager’s one-year tenure in Turin. The player himself is said to be open to the move.

After a successful loan stint at Cremonese in Serie B, Fagioli finally had his big breakthrough in the Italian top flight in the 2022/23 campaign. However, his momentum was halted by a seven-month ban due to his role in the infamous betting scandal that rocked Italian football in 2023.
The talented midfielder returned ot action in June 2024, but his lack of playing time under Thiago Motta prompted his departure from Juventus in January 2025. He immediately cemented himself as a regular starter at Fiorentina under Raffaele Palladino’s watch, but he struggled for form and playing time during Stefano Pioli’s short and calamitous reign.
To make matters even worse for the Piacenza native, he was an unused substitute on Paolo Vanoli’s first match in charge, as the Viola drew 2-2 in Genoa. This could be an ominous sign of things to come, which explains why the player is seemingly open to a January transfer.
