Il Messaggero reports that Lazio are in talks with Brighton over Diego Coppola, who is now viewed as their most viable defensive option.
Lazio have agreed to sell Alessio Romagnoli to Al-Sadd. He should be replaced in the starting line-up by left-footed Oliver Provstgaard. Lazio would need to return to the market if they cash in on Mario Gila, with Napoli and Atalanta competing for the Spaniard.
Gennaro Gattuso has given approval for a move for Coppola, though he is said to have preferred Sergi Dominguez or Arnau Martinez. The Brighton defender is considered a more favourable deal financially.
A new domestic rule incentivises investment in Italian U23 players by excluding their wages and amortisation from figures sent to the supervisory committee. That mechanism means Lazio could register Coppola, 22, immediately, while foreign targets can only be pursued once sales unlock a net-zero market.
Coppola joined the Seagulls from Hellas Verona last summer, then limited minutes preceded a January loan to Paris FC, where he established himself as a regular starter.
