Lazio have reportedly enquired about Girona full-back Arnau Martinez as their busy January window continues.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the club have made initial contact for the 22-year-old, whose contract includes a €14 million release clause. They are said to be exploring a lower fee, with his current deal running until June 2027.

After a transfer ban was lifted, Lazio have accelerated mid-season business. They have moved out three players, Castellanos, Guendouzi and Mandas, and brought in four, Ratkov, Taylor, Edoardo Motta and Daniel Maldini.

Martinez came through Barcelona’s academy and has been at Girona since 2018, breaking into the first team in 2021. A Spain U21 international, he has made 19 appearances this season with a goal and an assist. Primarily a right-back, he has also featured in other roles, often at the heart of the backline this campaign.

Lazio recently renewed Adam Marusic’s contract, yet adding a young right-back remains a priority. Elseid Hysaj will depart when his deal expires at the end of the season, while Manuel Lazzari’s future is uncertain.
