Lazio have lodged an initial proposal for Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti, yet a sizeable gap remains between the clubs. Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the offer is a €1 million loan with an €8 million obligation, triggered only if Lazio qualify for Europe next season, whereas Sassuolo want a €4.5 million loan fee and an €8 million buy clause.
A loan would require the forward’s expiring deal to be extended. The contract contains an automatic one-year renewal, though it is unclear who can activate it.
Il Messaggero adds that Lazio are pushing ahead but face interest from Hull City. The club also met his agent, Giuseppe Riso, over the weekend.
Pinamonti did not feature on Monday as Sassuolo beat Cesena by three in the Coppa Italia opener. After the tie, head coach Alberto Aquilani said Pinamonti and Kristian Thorstvedt are injured and have asked to leave, stressing replacements must arrive before any exits.
The 27-year-old has emerged as Lazio’s leading target to partner Mauro Icardi. Icardi is available on a free but is seeking significant wages that Lazio would struggle to match, while Pinamonti’s salary is expected to be more modest.
