Lazio have reportedly accelerated their attempts to recruit Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti, who could be the solution to their attacking woes.
Since the start of the summer, Gennaro Gattuso has reiterated the Biancocelesti’s desire to buy a new centre-forward, even though Petar Ratkov has been showing promising signs in pre-season. The club has been tracking several profiles, including AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez.
But while the Mexican is considered Gattuso’s ‘dream’ signing for the attack, it remains a difficult coup to pull, hence why the management continues to work on alternative tracks.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Aquile have opened a dialogue with Sassuolo sporting director Francesco Palmieri. Lazio have proposed an offer worth €15 million for Pinamonti, but the source doesn’t provide information regarding the formula.
The report also notes that Hull City have recently seen a €10 million offer rejected for the Italian centre-forward. Curiously, Pinamonti is the third striker to be linked to both Lazio and the Tigers this summer. The two clubs fell short in the race for Spanish youngster Carlos Espi, who ended up joining Real Madrid, and they’re both reportedly courting Benfica’s Franjo Ivanovic.
Pinamonti is an Inter Milan youth product who had loan spells at Frosinone, Genoa, and Empoli before joining Sassuolo in 2022. When the Neroverdi were relegated in 2024, he spent the following campaign on loan at Genoa, before rejoining the Emilians’ ranks following their return to the top flight a year later.
The 27-year-old has thus far scored 26 goals in 109 appearances for Sassuolo. His contract will expire in June 2027, which could urge the club to cash in on him this summer.
