Lazio Pondering Move for USMNT Midfielder Who Is Struggling in Ligue 1 | OneFootball

Lazio have reportedly enquired about the availability of Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Tanner Tessmann who might consider changing the air only a few months following his transfer to France.

Exploits in Venice

The American is a familiar name for Italian football fans having played at Venezia between 2021 and 2024, cementing himself as one of the finest players in Serie B last term. The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan last summer, but it was Lyon who eventually sealed the deal, pouncing on his expiring contract to secure his services for a relatively low fee (€6 million).

Underwhelming French Experience

However, the USMNT star has thus far failed to carve himself a starting role in Pierre Sage’s formation. Tessman has only made 10 appearances in Ligue 1 thus far, only three as a starter, so some believe his French experience could end prematurely as he looks to revive his career elsewhere.

Lazio Interested in Tanner Tessmann

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the midfielder still has many admirers in the Italian peninsula, including Lazio who have enquired about his availability. The source also names Napoli, Torino and Fiorentina as other potential destinations.

It is known that the Biancocelesti are keen to sign a new midfielder in January, so the club has been linked with a plethora of candidates, chief among them Cesare Casadei. But if Lazio were to lure a player above the age of 22 like Tessmann, they would have to make room for him by offloading one of their current players, as their senior squad list is already congested.
