Lazio are reportedly preparing to reward Marco Baroni with a new and improved deal following the thrilling start to his stint at Formello.

Winning Over the Naysayers

The 61-year-old is coming off impressive tenures at Lecce and Hellas Verona, but many naysayers felt he lacks the pedigree to manage a prestigious club like Lazio. Nevertheless, the Italian has been quietly proving his doubters wrong with astonishing results and positive displays.

The Biancocelesti are currently fourth in the Serie A table, with only one point separating them from league leaders Napoli. Moreover, they are on top of the Europa League group-stage table with a perfect record.

Lazio Intend to Offer Marco Baroni a New Deal

So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is convinced that Baroni’s early exploits warrant a contract renewal. The Biancocelesti patron is thus looking to armor his manager with an improved and prolonged contract. The hierarchy could make a concrete approach on this front in the coming weeks, or more likely in January.

The New Terms

The new deal would push back the deadline from June 2026 until 2028. Moreover, it should include a significant pay rise. Baroni currently earns circa €1.3 million in addition to bonuses. But as the pink newspaper tells it, Lotito is ready to offer the Florentine tactician a base salary of €2 million with add-ons that could reach €500,000.

More Renewals to Follow

As the source explains, Baroni’s renewal could pave the way for other similar operations at Lazio, as the club is also looking to maintain the services of Pedro and Matias Vecino who are running on expiring deals. On the contrary, Adam Marusic will likely be replaced with a younger right-back next season.
