Lazio may have secured their first winter signing after striking an agreement with Lorenzo Insigne, who is currently unattached.
The 34-year-old returned to Italy after leaving Toronto FC last summer. Although he had some offers on the table from the likes of Parma and Udinese, he has opted to wait for the Biancocelesti, as he’s keen to reunite with his old mentor, Maurizio Sarri who oversaw what was arguably the best stretch of his career between 2015 and 2018.

Lazio are still unable to sign the former Napoli captain due to the infamous transfer ban, but they’re expecting to resolve the situation in the coming weeks. Once the ban is lifted, they would be able to sign Insigne immediately since he’s a free agent.
During his appearance on Radio Laziale (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Petrucci claimed that the two parties have already found an agreement on personal terms, while also revealing the estimated figures.
Insigne has agreed with Lazio on a salary of just under €2 million. Sarri wants him and Lazio are ready to accommodate him.
The Euro 2020 winner can act as backup for Lazio captain Mattia Zaccagni on the left wing, since Pedro is no longer capable of darting the flanks as effectively as he used to, at least according to Sarri. The Neapolitan would also give the manager additional options, and might even be tested as a false 9.
