Lazio sign Ajax defender Josip Sutalo on initial loan | OneFootball

Lazio have signed Croatian centre-back Josip Sutalo from Ajax on an initial loan with an option to buy, the club said in a statement.

The push for reinforcements intensified after shaky displays from Danilho Doekhi and Oliver Provstgaard in the Coppa Italia defeat to Mantova. Alessio Romagnoli’s future is uncertain, while Patric and Samuel Gigot remain sidelined, with some fearing they may never be fully fit again.

Sutalo arrived in Rome on Friday night, completed his medical on Saturday, then put pen to paper.

The 26-year-old is a Dynamo Zagreb youth product who became a stalwart for the Croatian giants. His form earned a €20 million move to Ajax in the summer of 2023.

He went on to make 108 appearances for the Dutch club, has 37 caps for Croatia, and was ever-present in Zlatko Dalic’s line-up at this summer’s World Cup.
