Lazio have reportedly approached Leicester City in the hopes of buying their young striker, Lorenz Hutchinson.
The Biancocelesti have been searching the market for a new centre-forward since the start of the summer, but they have yet to find their man. The latest reports from Italy suggest that Angelo Fabiani and Co. have trimmed their shortlist to two main profiles: Mauro Icardi, who is currently a free agent, and Andrea Pinamonti, whose Sassuolo contract will expire next year.
But in addition to buying an accomplished profile, the Aquile could also bolster their youth ranks by recruiting a youngster.
According to Football Insider correspondent Pete O’Rourke, Lazio have presented Leicester with an offer for Hutchinson, an 18-year-old striker who rose through the club’s academy ranks. While the Foxes’ response remains unclear, the club had already sold some of their most exciting young talents this summer after getting relegated to League One (England’s third tier).
Hutchinson primarily plays as a centre-forward and has already impressed last season by scoring four goals and providing three assists in 12 appearances in the Premier League 2. He also netted 15 goals in as many matches in the U18 Premier League. The teenager has Jamaican heritage, but he has already represented England at the U19 level, earning three caps and scoring a goal in the process.
This summer, Lazio have already signed a promising teenager in the shape of Bruno Galassi, who joined from Real Madrid. The 19-year-old managed to impress in pre-season and could be involved with the first team on some occasions. Hence, a similar hybrid role could be in store for Hutchinson should he arrive at Formello.
