Lazio have reportedly launched a new attempt to recruit Leicester City teenager Lorenz Hutchinson.
In recent weeks, the Football Insider reported the Italian capital club’s interest in the 18-year-old forward, who is currently running on an expiring contract. The centre-forward is a Leicester youth product who currently represents the club’s U21 side, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.
Hutchinson had also made 38 appearances for Leicester U18, producing 27 goals and eight assists. On the international stage, he is eligible to represent both England and Jamaica, but has already featured for the Three Lions at the U19 level, scoring a goal in his three caps.
On Tuesday, renowned British football journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Lazio have tabled a new offer for the teenager over the past few days, adding that the two clubs are currently negotiating a deal.
Lazio have been searching the market for a new striker since the start of the summer. But needless to say, Hutchinson wouldn’t be the first-team addition Gennaro Gattuso has been seeking. The young Englishman would likely join the Primavera squad to further develop his game, or make a loan move to a club in the lower divisions where he could earn valuable playing time.
The Biancocelesti are currently working on signing Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti, who is expected to arrive in the coming days to bolster Gattuso’s attacking department.
