Lazio continue to assess the free-agent market after the summer window closed, with Mauro Icardi and Yves Bissouma among the options under review.
Corriere dello Sport reports that president Claudio Lotito remains intrigued by the prospect of signing Icardi, who is unattached after leaving Galatasaray.
Head coach Gennaro Gattuso is considerably less enthusiastic. He pushed for a more mobile centre-forward, reflected in the late summer arrival of Andrea Pinamonti, and currently regards Icardi as a low-priority option while focusing on Pinamonti’s match fitness.
Lazio have already signed Portuguese defender Diogo Leite on a free, yet two slots remain in their Serie A squad after Patric and Luca Pellegrini were omitted.
Bissouma, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, has emerged as a candidate to reinforce midfield following recent injuries. Despite the available spots, the club are not rushing decisions and will take time before activating any move.
