Scoring was a major problem last season. Taty Castellanos was sold to West Ham United mid-campaign and replaced by Petar Ratkov, who has yet to score. Daniel Maldini struggled as a false nine and returned to Atalanta when his loan ended.

Boulaye Dia has been bought from Salernitana for €11 million due to an obligation to buy. Lazio are nevertheless open to selling the Senegalese after two lean seasons, so bringing in a new striker is a priority.

Fiorentina paid €25 million for Piccoli last summer, which limits Lazio to an initial loan approach. Pinamonti could cost less, with Transfermarkt valuing him at €15 million and his contract expiring next year.

The 27-year-old came through Chievo Verona and Inter Milan, had loans at Frosinone, Genoa and Empoli, then joined Sassuolo in 2022. After the Neroverdi were relegated, he spent 2024/25 on loan at Genoa, before returning last summer when the club came back up.

Pinamonti has 26 goals and seven assists in 109 appearances for Sassuolo. He made his Italy debut in November 2022, which remains his only cap.
