Lazio are tracking Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup and are willing to table a significant bid for the 21-year-old.
According to The Laziali, Lazio made contact with the Norwegian on Tuesday and Wednesday. He then scored twice in a 4-2 win over Real Madrid that secured Benfica a last-gasp place in the Champions League play-offs.
He was available at the start of the week, but Benfica are now keen to extend his contract. Lazio remain intent on a deal and it is unclear whether talks with the Lisbon side will progress.
The Aquile have already made four signings this month, adding Petar Ratkov, Kenneth Taylor, Edoardo Motta and Daniel Maldini. Nineteen-year-old Adrian Przyborek is expected to complete his move from Pogon in the coming hours, with Angelo Fabiani still searching for opportunities.
Schjelderup came through at Bodo/Glimt, then joined Nordsjaelland, before Benfica bought him for €9 million in January 2023. He is under contract until June 2028, with a €100 million release clause and a 20% sell-on for Nordsjaelland.
A right-footed attacker who prefers the left flank, he can also play as a centre-forward. This season he has made 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
