Lazio ‘to monitor’ Schalke left-back Vitalie Becker | OneFootball

Sky Sport Italia reports that Lazio are tracking Schalke left-back Vitalie Becker, 21.

He played a key part in Schalke’s promotion to the Bundesliga last season, contributing two goals and an assist in 21 league matches.

Born in Bottrop, he holds German and Russian passports and has caps for Germany at U17, U19 and U20 level. Primarily a left-back, he can operate higher up the flank and has also filled the left berth in a back three.

An immediate move is considered complicated, with Lazio needing to reach agreement with Schalke. With his deal running to June 2027, Angelo Fabiani might be able to secure him on a free next summer.

Lazio have already added Alfonso Pedraza on a free from Villarreal, so they are expected to offload either Luca Pellegrini or Nuno Tavares. With no European football, Gennaro Gattuso does not require three left-backs.

If both Tavares and Pellegrini depart, a purchase this summer could be explored, though it remains an unlikely scenario.
