Lazio are monitoring Sebastiano Esposito’s situation at Cagliari and could move late in the window, but only if Boulaye Dia leaves. According to The Laziali, the club face competition within Serie A and would likely seek a temporary deal.
The 24-year-old came through Inter’s academy and had spells with Bari, Sampdoria and Empoli before joining Cagliari last summer. After a strong campaign, talks over a new contract stalled, with each side blaming the other.
Esposito has since refused to train with the first team. He was initially absent without leave, though his agent said the coach and sporting director had authorised time off, then he began submitting medical certificates to explain his absence.
A mobile forward considered best as a second striker, Esposito differs from his younger brother Francesco Pio, a classic number nine. He is viewed as cover for Dia rather than Petar Ratkov, who could make way for another target man such as Andrea Pinamonti.
Napoli, who are planning one or two attacking additions, and Torino are also in the frame. It remains unclear whether Cagliari would accept a loan, as Lazio cannot buy the player outright.
