Lazio’s organised ultras will return to the Stadio Olimpico for a single match, Sunday’s home meeting with AC Milan. According to The Laziali, the Curva Nord announced on Instagram that this attendance is a final act of love.
The groups have been protesting against president Claudio Lotito, accusing him of putting personal interests ahead of the club. They cited the drop in squad quality available to Maurizio Sarri and called for a sale.
As a result, Lazio played their last four fixtures in a near-empty stadium, with most fans observing the boycott. Sarri and his players have repeatedly urged supporters to come back.
For Milan’s visit they promised an epic tifo, which will most likely underline their opposition to Lotito and his management. After the game, they say they will continue to stay away from home matches until the end of the season.
The Serie A fixture kicks off on Sunday at 20:45 CET. The sides last met when Lazio eliminated the Rossoneri from the Coppa Italia through Mattia Zaccagni’s header.
