LDU play down revenge talk as Deyverson targets impact in Libertadores reunion with Palmeiras | OneFootball

LDU face Palmeiras in the CONMEBOL Libertadores quarter-finals on Wednesday, playing down talk of revenge and leaning on Deyverson for goals.

According to Globo.com, the clubs reunite almost a year after Palmeiras' 4-0 in São Paulo overturned LDU's 3-0 first-leg win in Quito in the 2025 semi-final.

Eight of those 11 starters remain, with only Gruezo, Medina and Alzugaray gone. The main change is in the dugout, Tiago Nunes left in July, Gustavo Álvarez replaced him.

Álvarez has 11 games, seven wins, two draws and two defeats. LDU edged Mirassol in the last 16, 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 in Brazil and 0-0 in Ecuador.

They are fifth in Ecuador. The coach is still tuning the side, and a 4-2-3-1 has underpinned their last three league wins. He said he feels good and trusts the squad.
