Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has confirmed positive news on the availability of key players ahead of Wolves’ visit to the Stadium of Light this Saturday.
Both Noah Sadiki and Omar Alderete have started in all of Sunderland’s last six Premier League games. However the duo both picked up injuries whilst on international duty for DR Congo and Paraguay respectively.
Despite this the news is not as bad as first feared for the Black Cats. “Yeah at the minute it is possible,” Le Bris answered on the possibility of both Sadiki and Alderete starting.
“For Noah, we checked him and he seems okay. We will see after the training sessions today and tomorrow if he is really available. We are positive.
“And for Omar, after a 20 hour flight, we will see. We will check him this afternoon. We had a quick chat with him yesterday and he was positive but we have to wait a bit.”
Sadiki has been a revelation since arriving from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer. His manager confirmed the midfielder’s issue is with his ankle.
Le Bris explained: “It is still possible to be worse but at the minute it seems okay.
“He has had this injury before, so he knows how it evolves and how serious it is when he felt the pain. So it is positive at the minute, we will see.”
Asked about the availability of the rest of his squad, the coach confirmed: “Yeah, they are okay.”
Up next for Sunderland is the visit of Wolves, who are currently rooted to the bottom of the table. Le Bris is not taking anything for granted and commented: “They struggled at the beginning of the season, but in the last two games showed that they are really competitive.
“They did not win but they deserved to win against Brighton and Tottenham.”
He continued: “Every game is an opportunity, even if you play against a really strong team you try to win.
“Our mindset is to win points and if it is possible, do it quickly.”
Sunderland remain unbeaten at home in the league this season, a run which they will look to continue.
Le Bris concluded: “It’s obvious that if you can feel this dynamic at home, with confidence, with this extra drive from the crowd and the community, it is better – because away usually it is more difficult to win points.
“So far, the form is positive and I hope it will be the case this weekend.”
