Ousmane Dembélé’s hat-trick in France’s 4-1 win over Norway in Boston on Friday drew raves across Europe and beyond. The PSG winger turned the final group game into a personal showcase as Les Bleus underlined their title credentials.
It had been billed as Mbappé v Haaland, instead it was all Dembélé, and fast. His rapid treble lit up the night.
In Spain, Mundo Deportivo and Sport led on « Le show Dembélé », AS cast him as « le Galactique qui manquait ». Marca dubbed him « le Moustique », stinging Norway into submission.
In Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport summed up the night as « La France fait peur, le show Dembélé, la Norvège écrasée ». It stressed the collective display against a Norway B team while spotlighting Dembélé, and also fired the line « Dieu pardonne, pas Dembélé ». Corriere dello Sport highlighted Kylian Mbappé’s two assists and constant menace, underlining a France capable of striking without their captain scoring.
In Germany, Eurosport picked out the winger’s remarkable two-footedness, finishing with his right then curling with his left, and cited former international Christoph Kramer, who called him the most two-footed player in the world.
In Norway, Dagbladet ran with « Knust av Frankrike », translated as « écrasée par la France », after Stale Solbakken’s rotated side were beaten. A B team perhaps, but they faced an armada and Dembélé was the conductor.
