A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could be forced to sit out as many as the club’s first three fixtures of the new season.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, who points towards Robert Lewandowski as the player in question.
Frontman Lewandowski of course set alarm bells sounding in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.
This came after word was forthcoming that the Pole had suffered a training ground injury, which would rule him out of this weekend’s Joan Gamper Trophy match.
As alluded to above, though, if ensuing word stemming from the media on Saturday is anything to go by, then Lewandowski’s incoming absence could well be altogether more significant.
As per a report from AS:
‘Robert Lewandowski could miss up to the first three La Liga matches due to discomfort in the hamstring in his left leg. The current forecast is that the player could be sidelined for several weeks, so a return after the international break in mid-September cannot be ruled out.’
