Tolu Arokodare netted his first goal for Wolverhampton on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in the third round of the League Cup against Everton. Coming off the bench in the 68th minute, the center forward sealed the Wolves' victory late in the match.
The former KRC Genk striker found the back of the net for the first time since joining Wolverhampton. Released in behind by Joao Gomes just three minutes from time, the Nigerian forward coolly chipped Mark Travers, sending Wolves through to the fourth round of the League Cup. His goal capped off a solid team performance, which began with Marshall Munetsi opening the scoring on the half-hour mark.
Brought on in the second half to replace Jorgen Strand Larsen, Arokodare injected fresh energy into Wolves' attack. His well-timed run behind the opposition defense put the finishing touch on a well-worked move. Head coach Vitor Pereira praised the mentality of his new signing, who arrived from Genk in the closing hours of the summer transfer window."Tolu came on when we no longer had Jorgen available. The plan was not to play him for 90 minutes, but to give him time to adapt and start building up his minutes. He needs to work hard to get back to full fitness, and he will help us," he said.
