FIFA announced in a statement that several Argentina players have been suspended following the 2026 World Cup final. Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina are among those sanctioned, and L'Agence fédérale argentine (AFA) also faces penalties.
Paredes is banned for 10 matches and fined 90,000 dollars, equivalent to 77,000 euros.
Molina receives a seven-match suspension and the same 90,000 dollar fine. Thiago Almada, Gavi and Roberto Ayala, Lionel Scaloni’s assistant, are each handed a one-match ban and a 30,000 dollar fine, worth 25,000 euros.
The AFA must pay 310,000 dollars, around 265,000 euros, for breaches that include use of the event for non-sporting demonstration, collective inappropriate behaviour, discriminatory or racist incidents, and public order disturbances.
Part of the punishment is suspended, with one match behind closed doors and a 100,000 dollar fine conditional. The remaining measures take immediate effect.
