FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has imposed a 10-match international ban and a 90,000 dollar fine on Leandro Paredes after incidents following the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain. The governing body said the sanction applies solely to national team fixtures.
The ruling leaves the Boca Juniors captain available for his club across domestic and continental competitions. His suspension will be served only when he is on duty with Argentina.
The disciplinary case also covered other figures. Nahuel Molina was given a seven-match suspension, with Thiago Almada and Roberto Ayala also cited in the file. For Spain, Pablo Gavi received a one-match ban.
Although the decision does not affect his club commitments, Paredes is currently out with a muscle injury sustained against Platense in the Torneo Clausura. He missed the second leg against Recoleta in Paraguay in the Sudamericana.
He will also sit out the league game with Racing and is targeting a return against Lanús. That fixture would mark Boca’s return to La Bombonera after hosting at the Ducó.
