A late Brighton equaliser from former Leeds forward Georginio Rutter sparked a jokey response from his old manager and team-mates, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.
After Leeds beat Wolves 3-0 on Saturday, Rutter came off the bench at Tottenham Stadium to level late and deny Spurs a first league win since December. The weekend ended with Leeds eight points clear of Spurs, who are 18th with five games remaining.
Rutter became a popular figure at Elland Road, recovering from a slow start to shine in the Championship. He produced six goals and 15 assists as Leeds reached the Wembley play-off final, but defeat by Southampton allowed Brighton to activate a release clause and sign him for £40m.
Daniel Farke said the dressing room saw the funny side, noting they had waited a long time for that kind of finish from Rutter. He praised the Frenchman as a top player and outstanding person, and said Leeds were happy for him after an emotional farewell, accepting he needed to progress faster than they could offer.
Farke stressed his pleasure was mainly for Rutter rather than any impact on the relegation picture, though he acknowledged the strike might have helped Leeds a little. He said he generally ignores other results and celebrates only Leeds goals, but admitted he has glanced at other fixtures in recent games. He added he is always pleased to see Rutter score and play well, as long as it is not against Leeds.
