Leeds United are maximising time for Elland Road redevelopment this summer, aided by a Premier League scheduling concession. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the club pushed ahead with an overhaul of the West Stand after last season ended.

Planning permission for phase one of a two-stand project was granted earlier this year, targeting a capacity of around 53,000. Preparatory work began immediately after the 2025/26 home programme, with demolition of the old ticket office and LUTV studio, floodlight removal and banqueting suites taken down.

To extend the construction window without supporters in that area, Leeds asked to open 2026/27 away. They will start at Nottingham Forest, providing an extra week before hosting Brentford, currently scheduled for 29 August.

The final day will also be on the road, at Crystal Palace.

The report adds that the West Stand will remain closed to supporters for any pre-season friendlies at Elland Road.

Leeds are close to confirming a friendly with RB Leipzig, a fixture planned for months. Red Bull is a boardroom partner of owners 49ers Enterprises and a club sponsor, with its logo on the front of Leeds kits.
