Leeds United midfielder Charlie Crew has joined League Two side Walsall on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old is set for his first full senior campaign.
He made two cameos on the US tour, and could debut tonight at Bristol City in the League Cup. Leeds Live reports he is Walsall’s 11th signing of the window.
Crew had two short spells at Doncaster Rovers. He played 13 times after a January move as they won the 2024/25 League Two title, rejoined on loan last summer, then returned in January after seven League One outings.
He is the second Leeds player to leave on loan this summer after Harry Gray’s switch to Sheffield Wednesday. Gray could feature on Saturday in the League Cup against Bolton Wanderers.
Leeds hope both youngsters secure regular EFL minutes. Joe Gelhardt could also depart, with several Championship enquiries after he helped Hull City win promotion last season.
Hull are interested in a return for Gelhardt, who has one year left on his Leeds deal, though he is not a top priority. Largie Ramazani is also expected to go, and both were left off Farke’s pre-season tour.
Leeds have raised just over £20million from the sales of Pascal Struijk, Jack Harrison and Isaac Schmidt, while Max Wober departed by mutual consent. Spending stands at £34m on Tarik Muharemovic, set to exceed £74m once James Trafford’s arrival is confirmed.
