Leeds United are braced for a busy final fortnight, with Nico Elvedi nearing a permanent move and outgoings gathering pace.

Leeds this morning confirmed Joël Piroe’s season-long loan to West Ham United. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the deal includes an obligation to buy if the Hammers are promoted from the Championship.

Elvedi, 29, is set to join from Borussia Monchengladbach after medical tests in West Yorkshire, with confirmation felt to be a matter of time. Leeds are paying an initial £6.8m, rising to £8.5m with add-ons. He must be registered by 12pm Friday to debut at Nottingham Forest.

Sebastiaan Bornauw is also on the verge of leaving, with the defender set to join Hamburg on loan and the Bundesliga side holding an option to make it permanent.

Leeds have enjoyed an impressive, quieter window than last summer’s 10-man influx, adding free agent Harry Wilson plus the £74million pair Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford.

Once those moves are finalised, Leeds want added depth at striker to replace Piroe and a top-level left-sided attacker. They would also like cover on the left of defence with Gabriel Gudmundsson injured, plus a back-up goalkeeper, with Lucas Perri expected to join Torino on loan imminently.
