Leeds United are moving towards a deal for Nico Elvedi as Sebastiaan Bornauw’s departure nears, with potential movement on Joel Piroe and Lucas Perri before the Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest this weekend.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds have agreed a deal for Elvedi at an initial £6.8m, rising to about £8.5m with add-ons, and the defender is due in the UK today for medical tests. Bornauw is on course to join Hamburg on loan with an option to buy, a switch that would clear the way for Elvedi, while West Ham have enquired about Piroe and are open to a deal that could start as a loan with an obligation to buy should they be promoted.
Piroe could leave after a season on the fringes, with Leeds preferring a permanent sale at around £16m. The forward is into the final year of his Elland Road contract and any valuation remains to be seen.
Goalkeeper Lucas Perri could also depart, with a loan to Serie A side FC Torino close and an option to make the move permanent. That follows the £40m arrival of new first-choice James Trafford.
Leeds ended pre-season brightly, beating FC Augsburg 4-0 thanks to goals from Anton Stach, Tarik Muharemovic, James Justin and Lukas Nmecha. Farke’s side won four of six friendlies ahead of their trip to Nottingham Forest.
